Sophie Hattch

Registered Counsellor & Mental Health First Aid Trainer

Sophie is a qualified counsellor registered with the Australian Counselling Association and a Mental Health First Aid Trainer. She brings warmth, depth and authenticity to her work, informed in part by her own lived experience of mental ill-health. She has worked for Lifeline for 5 years, providing crisis support to people in their darkest times, as well as on the ground at the Bondi Community Support Hub.

Before retraining as a counsellor, Sophie worked in film, television and advertising, giving her particular insight into high-pressure, fast-paced and creative industries. She understands the impact of stress, burnout and performance expectations, and offers a grounded, compassionate space where clients can explore what’s happening beneath the surface, without judgement or pressure to “fix” themselves.

Sophie works with individuals and couples navigating:

  • Relationship issues and breakups
  • Anxiety and overwhelm
  • Self-esteem and body image concerns
  • Career stress and fatigue
  • Grief and loss
  • Feeling stuck, lost or unsure

Her approach is person-centred and trauma-informed, drawing on evidence-based therapies in a flexible and collaborative way. She recognises that distress is often a natural response to overwhelming or unresolved experiences, and supports clients to build insight, emotional regulation and stronger relationships, both with others and within themselves.

At the heart of Sophie’s work is the belief that healing happens through safety, understanding and genuine human connection.
